Pothole Peril on UK Roads

weld1-1024x683With potholes increasing day by day, and limited resources from councils to fix them quickly, most motorists encounter bumping over potholes on a daily basis. This is more than just a motoring annoyance. Driving over a pothole, especially at speed, can cause damage to your alloy wheels. Such damage might include denting or cracking your alloys which can cause loss of pressure and potentially cause your car to fail its MOT.

img_2249-2-1024x683To replace damaged alloy wheels can also be costly, so you should think about having your alloy wheels repaired at a specialist alloy wheel repair center like Diamond Alloys. In our West London based wheel Refurbishment Centre cracked alloy wheels can often be easily, quickly and professionally repaired by our highly skilled technicians with a straightening technique. Dented alloy wheels can be repaired with a weld service.

An alloy wheel usually starts to crack with a fine fracture on the side of the rim which can be caused by the wheel being exposed to the road or curb. Because of weather corrosion and regular pressure this fracture usually becomes a larger crack and can begin to open up making your alloy wheel not only look unsightly but also become structurally unsound.

Jaguar Alloy Wheel Repairs

jaguar_alloy-wheel-repair01We know that owners of quality vehicles like a Jaguar want a quality alloy wheel repair and refurbishment service to meet the high standards of quality and styling that come as standard with a luxury car. And if you see how badly alloy wheels can be damaged by kerbing, you’ll understand why so many customers with luxury cars use Diamond Alloys!

To ensure we can offer a top-notch alloy wheel repair service we ensure all our customers are offered a powder coat finish for their wheel refurbishment, as we believe this offers the best and most long-lasting results.

At Diamond Alloys London we believe the reason powder coated alloy wheels look better is because the powder coating process creates a smoother and thicker coating, which gives a high quality finish for much longer than traditional wet paint methods.

jaguar_alloy-wheel-repair02These Jaguar alloy wheels pictured above had some kerb damage that required our technicians to first sand and file the alloy back into shape. They could only do this, however, after the alloys had been thoroughly cleaned with our AquaBlast machine – something that ensures we can offer the best possible repair rather than simply covering over break dust and other damaging elements.

The alloy wheels are then gently heated to remove any air, then cooled and primed, before being coated with the specialist powder mixture. The alloys are then baked in our specialist oven at 200 degrees Celsius, which ensures that the powder coat hardens and will subsequently be very difficult to remove!

jaguar_alloy-wheel-repair03The overall result from powder coating is simply stunning, and we would urge you to consider it if your alloy wheels are due for a refurb. The great thing about it is that the powder comes in a huge variety of colours, so it’s a great excuse to change your look if you feel that your car is getting a bit stale!
