We believe our Diamond Cutting technique is simply the best in the business! This advanced technique and the state-of-the-art machinery that we use at Diamond Alloys means precision cutting on the lathe can take place. A unique probe contours the edge of the alloy wheel and cleverly calculates the minimum amount required to be removed. This ensures a longer life for your alloy wheels because more cuts can be achieved over time.

Before cutting commences, the machine tracks the path calculated and then the laser precision cuts the alloys by taking a fraction of a millimetre (or as near as required) on each rotation to create the finished Diamond Cut. This is always closely monitored by our trained technicians to ensure a premium finish is achieved.

These pictures show the precision probe calculating the exact contours to be removed by the Diamond Cutting laser machine.

What colour finish can I achieve with a powder coat?
There are almost no limits to the range of colours available. You can also add texture or achieve a matt or gloss finish.

img_3071-2smallIs a powder coat finish dangerous?
Powder coating are not classified as dangerous and there are no solvents used in powder coating. In fact, it is considered a more environmentally friendly option.

Does powder coating prevent rust?
Unfortunately no, but the finish is durable and lasts longer than many other processes which is why is so popular, ensuring return visits to the workshop are few and far between.

Can I get powder coated alloys diamond cut?
Yes you can! In fact, as standard, all our Diamond Cut alloy wheel repairs have a powder coated base. We highly recommend that you have a painted a colour to accentuate the effect of the spoke design.

Can I get a smart repair powder coat?
No. Powder coatings are applied in a workshop using specialised equipment. The equipment includes an electrostatic spray gun, spray booth and an oven to bake the coating. On site application is not possible given the hot curing cycle required to fuse the coating.

spray-paint-powder-coatWhat has static electricity got to do with powder coating?
Powder coatings are electrostatically charged by the spray gun. This works by using a very high voltage (80,000 to 100,000 volts) being delivered to the electrode. This high voltage ionizes the air creating a field of electrons or negative charge. The powder is pneumatically conveyed into this electrostatic field, picks up a charge then heads to the nearest ground. So, lots of static electricity is generated by the spray system.

diamond-alloys-porsche-refurbished-alloywheelsHow should I care for my powder coated alloys?
As with all alloy wheels, pollution, dirt, grime and salt can all accumulate on a powder coated surface over time. To extend the life of your powder coated alloy wheels a simple regular maintenance program should be implemented for the removal of residues

In areas where pollutants are more likely, especially in coastal or industrial regions, a cleaning program should be carried out on a more frequent basis. To clean a powder coated surface, carefully remove any loose deposits with a wet sponge and then use a soft non-abrasive brush or cloth in combination with a mild household detergent solution to remove dust, salt and other residues. Finally rinse all powder coated surfaces with clean water.

The Benefits of Powder Coating Alloy Wheels

Our alloy wheel specialists recommend you opt for a powder coat process for repairing and refurbishing alloy wheels rather than a wet paint application.

powdercoatDiamond Alloys is a powder coat specialist in West London and understands the benefits of applying a powder coat process to your alloys.  This includes achieving a better and more durable finish for your alloy wheel. This coating is also longer lasting compared to painting alone. With typically only one application required, a powder coat alloy wheel refurbishment can offer a quicker turnaround for completion compared to other processes.

spray-paint-powder-coatIt’s also good to know that powder coating is an environmentally safe process because it produces few volatile organic compounds (or VOCs).

For car owners that appreciate a fine finish for their alloy wheels, it’s good to know a powder coat rim repair creates the most even finished surface (horizontal and vertical) because the powder is sprayed and heated without drips or application traces.

corroded-alloy-wheelDoes your car have alloy wheel corrosion? This can often be a problem that occurs in winter when the protective lacquer layer is compromised by kerbing and water seeps underneath. A final laqueur layer helps protect the alloy once again from the elements.
