Top tips on how to increase the lifespan of your tyres

tyres-for-carWe’ve got some great top tips to help ensure your tyres last for as long as possible.
What you should do is increase the life of your current tyres:

Keep your tyres pressurised: Tyre pressure can affect the quality of your driving experience as well as how long your tyres can last. We recommend you get your tyre pressure checked at least once a month.

Balance your wheels: Wheels should be balanced regularly; one way to ensure you do this is by rotating the wheels when you change your car’s oil.

Avoid potholes: Potholes can easily damage your tyres and alloy wheels, especially if driven over at speed. It’s a good idea to select high quality tyres and avoid potholes altogether if you can.

Look at the tread wear: Keep on track of wheel alignment is a good way to assess the tread wear of your tyres – keep them legal! One way to look at tread way is by inserting a coin through the wear bars. If the coin’s head is visible through the bar, it’s time to change the tyres.

Avoid harsh weather exposure: Weather can cause your tyres to perish. Icy winter weather and summer heat can be detrimental to the health of your tyres.

With these top tips, you can keep your tyres lasting for longer so you can get more value from the rims that you have on the wheels.

Pothole Peril on UK Roads

weld1-1024x683With potholes increasing day by day, and limited resources from councils to fix them quickly, most motorists encounter bumping over potholes on a daily basis. This is more than just a motoring annoyance. Driving over a pothole, especially at speed, can cause damage to your alloy wheels. Such damage might include denting or cracking your alloys which can cause loss of pressure and potentially cause your car to fail its MOT.

img_2249-2-1024x683To replace damaged alloy wheels can also be costly, so you should think about having your alloy wheels repaired at a specialist alloy wheel repair center like Diamond Alloys. In our West London based wheel Refurbishment Centre cracked alloy wheels can often be easily, quickly and professionally repaired by our highly skilled technicians with a straightening technique. Dented alloy wheels can be repaired with a weld service.

An alloy wheel usually starts to crack with a fine fracture on the side of the rim which can be caused by the wheel being exposed to the road or curb. Because of weather corrosion and regular pressure this fracture usually becomes a larger crack and can begin to open up making your alloy wheel not only look unsightly but also become structurally unsound.

Alloy wheel corrosion repair at Diamond Alloys London

corroded-alloy-wheelDoes your car have alloy wheel corrosion? This can often be a problem that occurs in winter when the protective lacquer layer is compromised by kerbing and water seeps underneath. Left unattended corrosion can spread and compromise the quality, look and safety of your alloy wheel.

The good news is that at Diamond Alloys a diamond cut alloy wheel repair and powder coat repair includes an alloy wheel corrosion treatment, if necessary, to eradicate the corrosion and bring your alloy wheels back to life.

acid-dip-alloy-wheelsAn alloy wheel corrosion repair starts with an acid dip, followed by careful attention in the prep room to prepare the alloy wheel for a powder coat. This process helps remove corrosion and prepares a sound and smooth surface to the alloy in preparation for colour to be added or a diamond cut to be applied. A final laqueur layer helps protect the alloy once again from the elements.

alloygators-jpgWe can even help you protect your alloy wheels from future kerbing damage! Ask us about adding alloygators to your rims when the repair is done. These fit around the alloy and are a cost-effective way to prevent the protective lacquer from being compromised ensuring corrosion is kept at bay!

How can I protect my alloy wheels from damage?

alloygators-jpgThis is one of the most common questions we get asked at Diamond Alloys! And the answer is simple! Protect your alloy wheels from damage with Alloygators.

Alloy wheel rim protectors; more commonly known as Alloygators, are a stretchy band of nylon which fit around the edge of your alloy wheel rims to add a stylish edge that helps protect the wheels surface from damage often caused by hitting kerbs whilst parking and going over potholes. They are a very low-cost way of protecting your rims and when you buy a pack of 4 from Diamond Alloys at the same time as having your alloy wheels refurbished, we will fit them for FREE!

alloygators-smallWe can fit these next generation rounded edge profiles on alloy wheels ranging in size from 12″ to 24″ in diameter. They are available for fitting at Diamond Alloys London in 15 stylish colours ranging from matt black, graphite and silver for those that are looking for a discreet finish, through to sky blue and orange for customers looking to match the rim protectors to the bodywork colour. We can show you a swatch card of colours on site to help you make your colour selection easier.

alloygators-2Alloygators are manufactured from super tough blended nylon composite with added UV stabiliser and impact modifier to enable strength and durability in differing climates, making them ideal for use in the UK.

Made in the UK, the Alloygators that Diamond Alloys stock have been developed with Vehicle OEM’s to include a matt finish with 50% more locking teeth, improved diamond grips and a reduced space between metal clips to ensure an even better fit to your vehicle.

To keep you informed, we have listed below the most common questions we get asked about our alloy wheel repair and refurbishment services:

Where are we located?
We have 2 locations for your convenience. Our workshop and headquarters are located just off the A40 in Northolt, West London and our new Heathrow drop off centre is located on the A30 in Staines-Upon-Thames. If you want to leave your car with us while the repairs are being done, we suggest our Northolt location is ideal as the Central tube line is just a short walk away. If you are dropping off wheels, then we’ll be happy to welcome you to our new Heathrow alloy wheel refurbishment branch.

How long will the alloy wheel refurbishment take?
This depends on what alloy wheel repair or refurbishment you are having, and the condition of your wheels. However, in general we advise 2-3 days for a Diamond Cut alloy wheel repair and 3-4 for a powder coated alloy finish.

Do we have loan wheels?
Yes, we do!  We can offer loan wheels for certain VW, Mercedes, BMW and Range Rover cars, enabling you to stay on the road as repairs to your alloy wheels are carried out.

alloygators-jpgDo we have anything to protect the alloys?
Yes, we advise that you have Alloygators fixed to your rims after your repair or refurbishment. These not only look stylish but will also protect your alloy wheels from kerb damage and scuffs. Fitting is FREE with any refurbishment.

Alloy Wheel Trade Accounts Give Great Feedback for Diamond Alloys

feedback-banner-2019-trade-2In business it is important to keep your customers happy by offering a great service that keeps them coming back time and again. This applies to not only our consumer clients, but our alloy wheel trade accounts too.

At Diamond Alloys, we repair and refurbish alloy wheels for many car dealerships, coachworks companies, van rental companies and chauffeur companies to keep the alloy wheels on their vehicles in tip top condition.

But don’t take our word for it! Here are some testimonials that some of our loyal trade accounts have left with us.feedback-banner-2019-trade-3

Save money with a 4 wheel alloy wheel refurbishment

It is all too easy to scuff and kerb your beloved alloy wheels. Buying new alloy wheels can be expensive and so Diamond Alloys recommends an alloy wheel refurbishment which can return your alloys wheels to their original factory fresh condition.

If you are looking for an alloy wheel repair company near you then visit Diamond Alloys in west London to get your alloy wheels refurbished. We offer a wide range of alloy wheel refurbishment services to achieve custom alloy wheels, a standard powder coat painted refurbishment or our most popular Diamond Cut alloy wheel refurbishment service.diamond-cut-banner-2019

We can repair one wheel at a time as required or the whole set of 4 alloy wheels in one go. Our trained alloy wheel technicians ensure a close a match as possible to your original alloy wheel, but for a perfect match we do recommend you have 4 wheels refurbished at the same time. The benefit of refurbishing a set of 4 alloy wheels is that the finish on all the alloy wheels will match exactly, so there will be no slight variation in colour match for paints or finish.

If you choose a Diamond Cut Refurbishment, a small layer of metal is cut away on our in house laithe, which will change the profile slightly and as a result not match your other alloy wheels exactly. This will be less obvious on wide spokes, like a 5 spoke wheel, but on wheels with many smaller spokes, the cut will be more noticeable due to the design of the alloy wheel. However, our alloy wheel technicians are highly skilled and using a diamond cut alloy wheel refurbishment machine is more accurate and will remove less metal than other cutting techniques. For a great diamond cut alloy repair wheel refurbishment trust Diamond Alloys!

If you are looking for an alloy wheel repair London service, then look no further! For your convenience, we now have two locations where you can drop off your alloy wheels for refurbishment. Drop off your car at our Northolt branch (just off the A40 London) or drop off your alloy wheels at our Heathrow branch (A30 Staines).

Don’t forget, have all 4 alloy wheels refurbished at the same time and not only get a set that perfectly match in colour and finish, but you also get a reduced price! Give us a call on 0208 845 7788 now!locations-banner-2019
