Extra Care with Alloy Wheel Repairs

scotching-alloy-wheelsAt Diamond Alloys we always take extra care when preparing alloy wheels for repair and refurbishment. Why do we do this? The answer is simple, the more care and attention we give at the preparation stage, the better the results will be.

In this picture you’ll see one of our prep guys scotching the wheels down, before they go for their paint and diamond cut. This process takes off any excess paint and removes imperfections, enabling our diamond cut technician to achieve a smoother cut.

The time spent in preparation means we can achieve beautiful quality results, something our clients recognise with their great feedback!

Subaru Impreza Alloys get a Subaru Gold Refurbishment

Subaru-ImprezaWhen you have damaged Subaru Impreza alloys wheels, then there is only one finish to go for! Our customer kept it original by requesting a Subaru Gold painted finish, and we were happy to make it happen!

These 18 inch alloys were given a custom painted finish after being stripped back completely in our chemical bath to eradicate all paint and Subaru-Impreza-alloysresidue so our guys could see the extent of the kerbing damage.

The damage was minor around the sides along with some slight corrosion around the centre. Our guys worked hard in the prep room to fill and sand before they were powder coated and painted.

The finished result? As good as gold!

Stunning Diamond Cut Alloy Wheels

_BS_8420When you take a closer look at the diamond cut alloy wheels we refurbish you’ll instantly know why this is fast becoming the number one finish for prestige cars.

The process simply cuts away a very thin layer of alloy to remove any damage sustained by kerbing, producing a shiny metal finish which contrasts beautifully against the spoke and drum colour of the wheel.

This refurbishment is not restricted to just prestige cars however, and can be applied to most wheels. Our skilled technicians are able to advise on the best finish for your rims, so just give us a call on 0845 370 8881 today or get a quick quote here. Remember…get all 4 wheels done at the same time and we’ll give you a discount!

Bodyshop Magazine re-visits Diamond Alloys to View Up-Grades!

IMG_5719-2For all wheel refurbishment companies and body shop repair centres there is only one magazine on the shelf; Bodyshop Magazine is at the heart of the UK collision repair business bringing news, reviews and interviews to the industry.

Diamond Alloys first appeared in the Bodyshop Magazine in August 2012. With the recent upgrades and new machinery added to the London alloy wheel refurbishment centre we thought it was time to invite the magazine back to see how things have changed.

IMG_5762-2Christopher Mann, Publisher of Bodyshop Magazine popped in to see us this week, bringing with him alloys off his Jaguar XJ12 for a standard painted finish to bring them back to the OEM finish after sustaining corrosion damage. It was a great opportunity for Christopher to see what a great job we can do, even on specialist alloys like this. Take a look at the before and after images below to see the beautiful transformation the guys achieved on these classic car alloys.

John Luttrell, Commercial Director at Diamond Alloys, was delighted to meet Christopher and give him a tour of the workshop, highlighting the special services we provide and the quality of the workmanship applied on all wheels that pass through the centre. John commented “It was a pleasure to welcome Chris to Diamond Alloys. We very much enjoyed showing him the operation here, he clearly has a great love of the automotive sector and Chris shared some excellent ideas on how we might grow the business further”

IMG_5733-2Christopher was shown our high tech Diamond Cutting machine by workshop Manager Amerjit Ubhi, our Powder Coat Spray booth and state of the art oven by head painter Paul Lee in addition to our newly acquired multi wheel pressure blast cabinet and Breatherite wheel booth.

Christopher was clearly impressed with the improvements and set up at Diamond Alloys commenting “The set up you have evolved at Diamond Alloys since Mark’s visit a few years back is clearly a massive step forward, both commercially and operationally. “ Christopher Mann, Publisher – Bodyshop Magazine.

We’d like to thank Christopher for taking the time to come and see us and look forward to reading the article he is writing about Diamond Alloys for the Bodyshop Magazine.

Why Choose Alloy Wheels?

If you’re new to the world of alloy wheels it can all seem a bit baffling. Before you dismiss alloys as something for boy racers, however, let us explain just why you should consider adding them to your car.

Yes, of course, there is a styling element, and in fact it’s amazing how much of a difference they can make to your car’s looks. Alloys come in a multitude of sizes, patterns and colours, so you can really express yourself by choosing a set that perfectly matches your taste. Alloys can even add extra value to your car, so they’re a good investment too!

Added strength
Good quality alloy wheels can significantly reduce wheel defection when cornering, as they provide increased rigidity. This is particularly useful for cars with high-performance tyres.

Improved acceleration
Alloys provide more responsive acceleration, and indeed braking, because they reduce the weight of the car’s rotational mass.

DSC_6086Increased brake cooling
Alongside the improved brake performance, alloys reduce the risk of ‘brake fade’ because they are better conductors of heat. In addition, the design of many alloys allows more air to flow over the brakes, further decreasing their exposure to heat.

Less weight
The lighter a car is, within reason, the better it performs. Because alloy wheels have a lower unsprung weight – that which is not supported by the car’s suspension – than steel wheels, they contribute to better road holding ability. This means that the driver benefits from more precise steering, and likely lower fuel bills too.
