Diamond Alloys Customer says ‘WOW’ after his Alloys are Refurbished.

There is no better recommendation than direct from a client, and we were delighted when Nik Garrad came to collect his Chevrolet alloys and said ‘WOW!

Nik’s alloys were a standard silver colour which he felt could be improved with a new look. Nik requested a satin black standard paint finish with the added detail of orange rim bands to co-ordinate with his car and add the extra detail he was looking for. Not only do they look great, but the rim bands add extra protection to the rims ensuring they last longer against every day wear and tear which can occur when parking close to high kerbs.

I would totally recommend Diamond Alloys on all counts!”

Corroded Alloy Wheels get a New Look at Diamond Alloys

Our technicians get to see some pretty terrible looking alloy wheels, all suffering from common complaints including kerbing, chipping, dents, cracks and corrosion. All of these issues can easily be repaired to an almost as good as new look and for a fraction of the price when compared to buying new.

Take a look at these alloys wheels which client David Jones brought in to our London wheel repair centre. As you can see his Nissan wheels were badly corroded, in fact perhaps some of the worst our guys had ever seen! However, with a dip into our acid bath, a thorough clean and some careful preparations the wheels were already on their way to looking good. To ensure a sound and smooth surface was achieve, the wheels were powder coated several times.

Unfortunately the first paint application suffered a reaction giving the wheels a slight hint of purple! This can happen on occasion, especially when wheels arrive in poor condition; however our technicians persevered to ensure the customer received the shiny graphite grey alloys he was expecting.

As you can see from the pictures, the transformation was amazing and our customer was completely satisfied.

Our client bought his Caddy van into our London alloy wheel refurbishment centre to have then repainted and diamond cut. The black gloss inserts really show the unusual spoke design and match perfectly to the colour of the van. To accentuate the design of these alloys a diamond cut was applied to the face and rim, which resulted in a beautiful finish our client was thrilled with.

All damage was completely eradicated to ensure the finished result was almost as good as new!

Smart Thinking from a Local Business

diamond-alloys-custom-wheels-telsarWe were delighted with the feedback we received from local business Telsar who came to Diamond Alloys to get their company car alloy wheels refurbished to achieve a stunning new look more in keeping with their branded vehicle.

As you can see from the before images below, the wheels started out in a standard silver colour, but Dipesh Patel from Telstar wanted to upgrade the look to a stunning black gloss finish to match the cars bodywork. The after pictures show how much this simple colour change enhanced the appearance of the car’s look.

Dipesh commented on receipt of the new look “Diamond Alloys did a fantastic job changing the colour of the wheels on our company Smart Car to match the paintwork. The finish looks like it has come directly from the factory and it cost a fraction of the price we selected it as an optional extra from the dealer. We will be using Diamond Alloys for our entire fleet in the future. Highly recommended! “

We are delighted that Dipesh was so happy with the results and look forward to welcoming him back to Diamond Alloys again soon.

Caring for Wheels and Tyres – Brake Dust

If you’ve ever tried to clean your wheels you’ll know how difficult the task is – not to mention how hard it is to protect them from further contamination. Ironically, your wheels themselves are often the enemy, as the friction between their brake disks and brake pads creates brake dust – an insidious mix of materials such as carbon fibre, metal filing and glue that is rubbed off the brake pads and onto your alloys. Not only is it unpleasant to look at, but it’s highly corrosive and, thanks to the elements of glue, very hard to remove.

The solution to this problem is to find a way to either protect the alloys from any dust exposure, or to clean the wheels often enough that the metal filings in the dust never have a chance to oxidise and start corroding your rim’s protective coating – or worse, the rim itself.

To protect the alloys, you can use dust shields, which sit between the rim and the hub to protect the former from dust whilst still allowing air to flow through. Although these are a proven method of minimising dust exposure, be warned that they can compromise the aesthetics of your wheels, and are also generally unsuitable for high performance cars. An alternative to these is to buy specialist, low dust, brake pads. These can be made from a variety of substances, such as a kevlar or ceramic compounds, and some even improve brake performance as well as reducing dust.

The alternative to protective solutions is regular cleaning, which can be hard to keep up if you have a busy schedule – or just don’t feel like braving the cold outdoors! To be effective, you’ll need to wash your wheels at least once a week – ensuring you remove all brake dust – and re-apply protective coatings at least every three months. Although this sounds arduous it’s well worth the effort: just a few minutes’ washing every week will prevent corrosion kicking in and save you an expensive alloy bill further down the line.

If your car needs a little TLC, you can also phone Diamond Alloys to ask about our valet service – a great way to kick start a new cleaning regime!
