Fleet Manager Tim Page commented “We have a large fleet of prestige and high performance vehicles which we strive to keep in showroom condition for our clients. It is such a pleasure to deal with Diamond Alloys, they do all of our wheel refurbishments included painted, diamond cut and even, split rims. They take care of everything from start to finish and meet our very high expectations every time.” Tim is pictured here with a recent refurbishment on one of their Range Rovers. Diamond Alloys Straightens Buckled Wheels

IMG_2249-2Did you know Diamond Alloys can also straighten alloy wheels if they have sustained a buckle?
Alloy wheels can easily be damaged when hitting curbs or potholes at speed. You may not notice vibrations as your drive, an indicator that your wheel or wheels are buckled. If you continue to drive without having this damage fixed it could cause additional damage to your car and you might fail your MOT.

However, you don’t necessarily have to buy new alloy wheels to fix this problem, simply take them down to Diamond Alloys and we can fix this for you; bringing your alloy wheel back to the desirable circular shape an illuminating the vibrations.

At Diamond Alloys we carry out straightening on site in our London refurbishment centre. You can opt for a simple repair or have a refurbishment carried out at the same time. For more information about this service, call us on 0845 370 8881 or email us direct.

Mini alloys get a diamond cut from Diamond Alloys

photo 1Updating your alloy wheels can inject new life into their appearance and not only improve the look of your vehicle, but also increases its value without having to outlay lots of cash on new rims.

These 17” Mini alloy wheels were originally diamond cut, but our client wanted to update the look and opted for a painted finish. Our technicians fully stripped back the alloys in our acid tank before cleaning in our aquablast machine. The next stage was a powder coat application to give the wheel a great surface. The colour selected was a classic anthracite, which followed with a layer of protective lacquer to ensure they had a long life once back on the car.

Alloys with Corrosion – How Diamond Alloys can repair and give rims a great new look

photo 2Take a look at these Audi wheels and you will see how bad the damage is around the edge of the rim. This specific type of damage is corrosion and will completely ruin the appearance of your wheel. Corrosion is an electrochemical oxidation of metals; a reaction with an oxidant like oxygen is common on alloys.

Although this damage looks pretty bad it can quite easily be rectified with a refurbishment, so you won’t have to outlay huge amounts of money by buying new. These 17” Audi alloys were initially dipped in our acid tank to remove the corrosion damage, and then cleaned in our aquablast machine before being prepped by our guys in the workshop. Once the preparation is complete, our technicians can get to work on giving the alloys a new look.

The alloys originally had a diamond cut face with standard silver paint finish in the inserts, however our customer wanted a new look for his rims and requested that we painted the inserts a more eye catching anthracite grey. By having the dark inserts our clients achieved a striking look which really set of the diamond cut face beautifully.

If your wheels are badly corroded, just send us a picture by email and our guys will take a look and give you the best advice on how you can achieve a stunning new look. Alternatively pop down and see us or give us a call on 0845 370 8881.

Transforming corroded alloy wheels to a beautiful new finish

image3 Alloy wheels can get into a pretty sorry state, picking up break dust, scratches and scrapes every day on the road. Alloys can also become corroded over time, like these BMW wheels pictured here. However, there is no need to replace these wheels with new ones because Diamond Alloys can bring them back to life and looking great in only a few days, saving you lots of money!

These rims are slight more complicated to refurbish compared to standard rims because they are split rims, which means they need to be taken apart before refurbishment can commence.

photo 4These particular alloys were badly corroded in addition to having brake dust. Our technicians put these alloys into our acid bath to remove all the corrosion before aqua blasting them to remove any residue corrosion, paint and dirt. Next they are prepped, powder coated before being spray painted, diamond cut and finally lacquered for protection.

As you will see, the result is stunning. The silver painted centre section is set of beautifully against the diamond cut lip of the outer rim.

If you need your split rim alloys repaired or refurbished, then give Diamond Alloys a call on 0845 370 8881 or email us some pictures and we will be happy to give you a great price.

Air Pressure vs. Wet Performance

In these rainy months, optimising your car’s performance for slippery, wet conditions should be a priority. Unless you’re in Somerset, in which case you might want to swap your car for a boat!

One important factor that will affect your ability to drive on wet roads is your tyre pressure. If your tyres aren’t sufficiently inflated, the edges (shoulder) of the tyre will be worn down faster than the centre, because there isn’t enough pressure to force the central tread down and bear an equal share of the load.

This has a negative effect on your tyres’ longevity and rolling resistance, but – most importantly at this time of year – in wet conditions, the concave shape of and under-inflated tyre means that water will be trapped underneath rather than rolled away by the wheels.

On standing water, this deformity means that the car is much more likely to hydroplane, because the uneven tyres cannot deal with the volume of water underneath them. This happens quicker with smaller tyres and shallower treads.

Low tyre pressure is, fortunately, easy to fix, and we’ll give you a free pressure check every time you book a refurbishment – leaving you safe in the knowledge that both your alloys and tyres are the best they can be this winter.

Mixing Painted and Diamond Cut for a Great Looking Result

At Diamond Alloys we have technicians specialising in different finishes, which means we can apply a painted finish with a diamond cut finish to get a great looking result for your alloys.

A Porsche 911 customer came into our London based alloy wheel refurbishment centre with a very specific request. He wanted his 19” alloy wheels to have a painted centre and a diamond cut lip. This was no problem for our boys! As you can see in the first picture, the wheels initially cleaned and painted. After this, they then go into our lathe for diamond cutting to produce this great effect.

A Great New Look for Tired Looking Alloy Wheels

When alloy wheels start to look tired and a bit scuffed around the edges it is time to get them refurbished! You do not have to outlay lots of money buying new; a painted refurbishment is all you need.

These 19” alloy wheels came into the London based Diamond Alloys refurbishment centre to a makeover, and our guys did a great job. The alloy was cleaned in our aquablast machine and the scuffed edges were filled and sanded to create a round and smooth base for our paint technicians to work from. The customer chose a lighter shade of grey compared to the original, ensuring his shiny ‘new’ alloys were looking great when put back onto his car. Our guys will also ensure your tyres are re-fitted and balanced, all included in our great prices.
