Car Tyre Replacement 101

According to research, over 160 road deaths in the UK have been attributed to under inflated car tyres in the past 5 years. With statistics like this, tyre manufacturers and the automotive industry in general is working hard to educate the public about the importance of replacing car tyres. Take a look at what you need to know about car tyre replacement if you think your tyres need to be replaced:

• Take care of your wheels: When a tyre is being replaced, it is important for the wheels to be balanced when this is going to take place. Sometimes, it is easy to forget that wheels need just as much TLC as the tyre itself because they complete the full package. Ensure that the wheels are in tip top shape by having them balanced regularly especially for tyre replacement.

• Monitor tread depth: This is a tell-tale sign whether your car tyres should be replaced or not. You should make sure that you look at them frequently to ensure that traction is strong because the tread depth is also a sign about the strength of the tyre itself. If you think that your tyres don’t pass the tread depth test, consider replacing them immediately. You can measure depth by using a tread depth indicator. UK laws stipulate that the minimum tread allowed on tyres is 1.6 millimetres.

• Look at tyre pressure: Handling is all about control especially when it comes to your car tyres. You should keep an eye on the tyre pressure because this helps to keep your car safe while you are on the road.

• Know the shelf life of your tyres: Experts recommend that drivers replace their tyres every six years with a maximum of 10 years to use any set of tyres. Always consider your manufacturer’s tips on the shelf life of your tyres when making decisions about them.

Replacing your car tyres will improve your experience of driving your car whether you use it as a daily driver or for recreation.

Don’t forget we offer a balancing service for FREE and if your alloys are in for repair we can also quote your for new tyres too!

Red Accents on the Mercedes Benz C63 Black Series

According to colour analysts, black is used to symbolise mystery and luxury. Mercedes Benz has encapsulated the spirit of luxury thanks to the C63 AMG Black Series. However, car tuning company Five Nine Design has added a colourful touch in partnership with ADV.1 Wheels.

Five Nine Design used a mixture of colours for the C63 AMG Black Series such as gunmetal grey, silver and black. Red is the starring colour that the tuner decided to use as they chose a transparent tint in red. This red tint wraps the 20 inch alloys from ADV.1 which are polished in brushed aluminium.

The wheels are the centrepieces of this Black Series car but they are also said to make handling easier because they improve traction ability. The finished product is a C63 AMG Black Series that looks mysterious and sleek, which is perfect for the independent and edgy drivers who flock to the Black Series of this car model.

BMW 328i and K3 Projekt

A pop of yellow neon is a key focus of this BMW 328i which has been tuned by K3 Projekt. The pictures show a glossy black BMW 328i from K3 Projekt, a tuner straight from Miami, Florida. This is a 2007 BMW 328i and the top changes that the tuner has made included the fog lights, an OEM roof rack, a lip spoiler at the back and stunning headlights.

The wheels are 20 inches F2 Concave alloys which are coloured in fluorescent yellow. This is definitely a stand out feature of the car and proves that it means business. The performance has also been improved with the addition of cross drilled rotors and S1 coilovers.

When tuners like K3 Projekt get to work, they can definitely breathe new life into classic cars like the BM2 328i.

At Diamond Alloys we are well equipped to offer you a great bespoke alloy wheel refurbishment, so if you like this fluorescent yellow  look and want something similar for your car, then give us a call on 0845 370 8881 and we can recommend a service perfect for you!

Matte black Lamborghini LP 570 Superleggera with ADV.1 wheels

The Lamborghini LP570 Superleggera has been customised in a new finish thanks to ADV.1 wheels. The beauty of this tuned Lamborghini does not just stop with new wheels that make driving this Lambo fun. These wheels are 20 inch alloys which are lightweight and finished in matte black.

The owner went beyond that by also requesting a new paint job for the exterior. The exact hue of what the owner received was the OEM matte black colour. It wraps the whole car in solid black, the ideal colour for the Superleggera.

One of the current trends that owners are requesting for extra work on their supercars includes pops of colour throughout the car. This can be seen on this LP570 Superleggera with green accents such as the Verde Ithaca green callipers and the rear wing which also has green accents. Shots of colour on sleek matte black exteriors on cars like the LP570 make them stand out even more by adding new dimensions to the car.

The Superleggera also has additional features in this tune-up that included carbon bucket seats and a front bumper. From the new ADV.1 wheels to these additional parts, this Superleggera was customised to exactly what the owner wants.

You may not own a Lambo, but if you like the bespoken alloys on this Gallardo LP570 and you are looking for something similar, call us on 0845 370 8881 and discuss your options with our trained technicians.

Another Happy Customer at the Diamond Alloys Wheel Refurbishment Centre

At Diamond Alloys, we want all our customers to drive away happy with their newly refurbished bespoke alloys. To achieve this we take care by asking what the customer wants for the finished look, hence why we call it a bespoke alloys service.

Happy customer Amar Patel came into our wheel refurbishment centre last week to collect his newly finished Diamond Cut wheels and was blown away by not only the finish but also the service.

Amar found Diamond Alloys on-line from one of our blogs about the Diamond cutting process and was delighted to then find out we were only round the corner from where he lived in West London.

It was great to see Amar’s reaction when he saw the finished result of his refurbished alloys, who said he would be back with his other cars and spreading the word on MBclub.co.uk.

Office Manager Kevin gave Amar a tour of the wheel refurbishment centre too, showing him our state of the art diamond cutting machine to explain how this process carefully cuts away a thin layer of the alloy to remove damaged caused by kerbing.

Amar left us some great feedback too along with some superb pictures of his finished wheels, “You never know what to expect when dealing with a new service, but I’m extremely happy to say the outcome of the diamond cut finish on my alloys are spot on! They look practically brand new. The experience start to finish has been excellent. I know where I’m sending my AMG monoblocks next! I’ve given you a big thumbs up on MBclub.co.uk! Cheers guys!

How Road Wheel Weights Affect the Performance of Your Car

Wheel weight is one of the most important features of a car. It might not be able obvious to the naked eye initially but wheel weight plays a crucial role in how your car works. Magnesium wheels are the most common types of wheels used for track and motorsport because of how lightweight they are. However, they are not strong enough for road use which is why manufacturers of wheels are responding to this by creating lightweight aluminium alloy wheels.

Manufacturers know that less weight on a car will make it a sharper and smoother ride. One of the first places that weight can be shaved off a car is the wheels. Manufacturers want to reduce the unsprung weight. This is defined as the weight of the springs of the car when the car is in motion on rough surfaces. In additional to the rotational weight of the car, manufacturers are looking at all aspects of the wheels to keep the weight down. Less weight means that the car uses less energy to move. This lies at the core of a car being performance-enhanced for motorists who want a car that performs to the high standards they require for luxurious and sporty driving.

The benefits of refurbishing 4 wheels at the same time

Scuffed and damaged alloy wheels can really let your car down. At Diamond Alloys our trained technicians can return your alloys wheels to their original factory fresh condition.  We offer a wide range of alloy wheel refurbishments including a bespoke alloy refurbishment, standard refurbishment and our most popular Diamond Cut service.

We can repair one wheel at a time as required or the whole set in one go. We do all we can to ensure a close match as possible to your original alloy wheel, but for a perfect match we do recommend you have 4 wheels done at the same time.

The benefit to refurbish a set of 4 wheels is all wheels will match exactly, so there will be no slight variation in colour match for paints or finish for lacquers.

If you choose a Diamond Cut Refurbishment, a small layer of metal is cut away, which will change the profile slightly and as a result not match your other wheels exactly. This will be less obvious on wide spokes, like a 5 spoke wheel pictured here, but on wheels with many smaller spokes, the cut will be more noticeable due to the design of the wheel. However, our technicians are highly skilled and using a diamond cut machine is more accurate and will remove less metal than other cutting techniques.

Don’t forget, have all 4 wheels refurbished at the same time and not only get a set that perfectly match in colour and finish, but you also get a reduced price! Give us a call on 0845 370 8881 now!
